₹3.08 Crore Allocated to Anandwan Institution by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Mumbai : The Maharogi Sewa Samiti at Anandwan in Warora, Chandrapur district, has received an immediate allocation of ₹3.08 crore as directed by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar. This includes ₹1.86 crore for the treatment and rehabilitation of leprosy patients and ₹1.22 crore for Anand Blind, Deaf, Mute, and Disabled Workshop. Following his directive, the disbursement was promptly completed. This action, initiated by Deputy Chief Minister Pawar, will provide financial relief to the Maharogi Sewa Samiti, established 75 years ago by the late social reformers Baba Amte and Sadhanatai Amte.

Baba Amte and Sadhanatai Amte founded the Maharogi Sewa Samiti in 1949 at Anandwan, Warora Taluka, Chandrapur, to serve leprosy patients. As the organization celebrates its platinum jubilee this year, it faced financial difficulties, which Dr. Vikas Amte, Secretary of the institution, brought to the attention of Ajit Pawar. Acting swiftly, Deputy CM Pawar directed the immediate disbursement of ₹3.08 crore to the organization, which has since been carried out.

For 75 years, the institution has been committed to social responsibility, providing treatment and rehabilitation to leprosy patients. It supports approximately 1,500 rehabilitated individuals, including leprosy-cured disabled people, the destitute, elderly, orphans, and mentally disabled individuals, along with their children. The institution also provides education and vocational training to 300 residential students with disabilities and offers educational facilities to 3,500 students from economically weaker sections through non-residential programs in science, arts, and commerce streams.

Recognizing the organization’s commitment to social service, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar ensured the immediate allocation of ₹3.08 crore from the state government to support its ongoing initiatives.
