Hnahthial District Agriculture Marketing Committee (DAMC) Holds Meeting to Discuss New Marketing Initiatives
A meeting of the Hnahthial District Agriculture Marketing Committee (DAMC) was held today at 11:00 AM in the DC Meeting Hall, Hnahthial. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau, District Magistrate and DAMC Chairperson. The agenda focused on implementing the “Thlai Thar Marketing under Hand Holding Scheme, 2024” for Hnahthial District, with a specific emphasis on Sawhthing marketing and related key issues.
During the meeting, Chairperson Ms. Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau explained the purpose of the meeting, emphasizing the government’s plan to begin the sale of new crops, particularly Sawhthing, starting February 20. She highlighted the importance of setting up Secondary Collection Centres (SCC) for crop collection in the district and the need to review the progress of their establishment. Additionally, she noted the necessity of providing training for SCC Cluster Society Accountants and Managers within January. The discussion also included various aspects of marketing Sawhthing in the district and other essential related matters.
Mr. Isak Lalremruata, Co-opted Member of the Mizoram Agricultural Marketing Board (MAMB), presented a report stating that the Mizoram government will begin the sale of Sawhthing on February 20. It is estimated that the district will produce approximately 46,700 quintals of Sawhthing this year, with 5,400 quintals expected to be collected and marketed from Hnahthial District. Plans are in place to continue collection efforts for additional produce.
The meeting was attended by the Member Secretary (District Agriculture Officer), representatives from MAMB, the Additional DC, Project Director (DRDO), District AH & Veterinary Officer, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), District Civil Supplies Officer (DCSO), District Horticulture Officer (DHO), District Soil Conservation Officer (DSCO), Senior Scientist and Head (KVK), and the District Fisheries Development Officer (DFDO).
