Celebration of National Girl Child Day and 10th Anniversary of the BBBP Scheme

Serchhip : Today, the Serchhip ICDS Project organized a program to celebrate National Girl Child Day and the 10th anniversary of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme. The event included a “Walk for the Girl Child” as the main activity.

During the event, Pi Caryll Lalpari, CDPO Serchhip, explained that National Girl Child Day is observed annually on January 24. She also highlighted that this year’s celebration coincides with the 10th anniversary of the BBBP Scheme, marking a decade of efforts to empower and protect girl children. She mentioned that several activities, including awareness sessions at Anganwadi Centers and a tree plantation campaign, have been planned at the block level to further promote the objectives of the scheme.

Pi Lalnundiki Ralte, the Poshan Coordinator, emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of girls, while Pu Lalvensanga from the DPO Office also addressed the gathering.

The walk saw active participation from various offices under the WCD Department, including staff from the DPO Office, One-Stop Center (OSC), Shakti Sadan, Anganwadi workers and helpers, as well as DCPU Office staff.
