New Delhi: Voting Begins at 7 AM, Long Queues at Polling Stations
Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections began at 7 AM today across all 70 constituencies in the national capital. Long queues have been reported at many polling stations as citizens exercise their right to vote. Delhi Police have ensured tight security arrangements, with personnel stationed at every corner to maintain order. This time, the elections are witnessing a triangular contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress.
AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal is contesting from the New Delhi constituency, where he faces BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dixit. In Kalkaji, Chief Minister Atishi of AAP is battling BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’ Alka Lamba. A total of 699 candidates are vying for seats in Delhi’s legislative assembly.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X, urging voters to participate in this democratic process with enthusiasm. He stated, “Votes will be cast for all the seats in the Delhi Assembly elections today. I encourage voters to engage in this festival of democracy and ensure they cast their valuable vote. A special message to all the first-time voters—remember, first vote, then refreshments!”
With voting underway, the capital city is witnessing strong voter participation, as citizens head to the polling stations to decide the political landscape for the coming term.
