Mahakumbh 2025’s major milestone: Growing youth interest in Sanatan Dharma
Mahakumbh Nagar : With the Amrit Snan of Basant Panchami completed, Mahakumbh 2025, the largest gathering of Sanatan culture, is nearing its conclusion. The Akhadas’ departure will begin on February 7, marking the final phase of the event.
The biggest achievement of this Mahakumbh, according to Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand Maharaj, is the unprecedented participation of youth. For the first time, over 50% of attendees were under 30, reflecting the growing faith of India’s youth in Sanatan Dharma. This resurgence, he believes, is largely due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in reviving Sanatan culture.
The massive youth turnout at Mahakumbh 2025 signals a cultural renaissance. Many young individuals arrived alone, or with their families, seeking a deeper understanding of Sanatan culture and spirituality.
According to Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand Maharaj, the past few years have witnessed a spiritual awakening among India’s youth, inspiring them to reconnect with their roots.
Notably, a large number of youth participating in Maha Kumbh 2025 actively engaged in Satsang and Kirtan, listening to Ram Katha, Bhagwat discourses, and spiritual teachings. Many between the ages of 18 and 30 approached religious leaders with questions about their heritage, culture, and the purpose of life.
Sanatan and spirituality are currently among the most searched terms on Google. “The generation that spends most of its time making reels, is now embracing real life,” he noted. This Mahakumbh, he added, has awakened the youth, strengthening the cultural foundation. He believes that if the next generation remains connected to its roots, Sanatan Dharma will thrive, crime rates will drop, and prosperity will rise.
Beyond its impact on the youth, Mahakumbh 2025 has fostered unity across all sections of society. “India is returning to its roots,” said Mahamandaleshwar Sampurnanand Maharaj, highlighting the spiritual fervor that has enveloped the gathering.
CM Yogi had earlier described this Mahakumbh as the ‘“Kumbh of Unity”, and it has lived up to that vision. Pilgrims from all backgrounds are taking a holy dip together in the sacred confluence of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna, and Maa Saraswati, setting aside social divisions. This shared experience of faith and devotion reflects a new India built on unity, harmony, and positive energy.
Furthermore, pilgrims have been seen collecting sacred soil from Sangam, symbolizing a shared cultural and spiritual sentiment.
