Ministry of Defence Officials Review Development Works in Dantewada
Appreciate efforts on women’s empowerment, youth employment, and rehabilitation of affected families
Raipur : Officials from the Ministry of Defence inspected the development works in Dantewada. As part of the Study Tour-2025 by the National Defence College, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi, a team of 18 senior officials visited Dantewada and reviewed various social and economic upliftment programs being implemented in the district. They praised the efforts of the district administration and police department.
The officials first visited the Denex factory located in Geedam. They were informed that the district administration had launched the Nava Dantewada Garment Factory with the aim of empowering local women. The clothes manufactured at this factory are sold in the market under the Denex brand. Four factories have been established in the district with the goal of providing employment to approximately 1,200 families. The officials interacted with working women and encouraged them.
Next, the delegation visited the Naxal Victim Rehabilitation Center in Karli. The officials were informed that under the ‘Loan Wrattoo’ (Homecoming) campaign, surrendered Naxalites and families affected by Naxal violence are being provided safe housing and employment. These families are benefiting through schemes run by both the central and state governments.
The delegation also visited Education City Jwanga, where they interacted with students at Saksham-2 (a residential school for children with special needs) and appreciated their achievements. The officials were informed that visually impaired students are provided with a smart learning tool called ‘Any Device’ to help them learn and read Braille.
Additionally, the officials inspected the Horse Riding Training Center, where students are being taught the nuances of horseback riding. During this visit, students also presented a musical performance, which was well appreciated.
The delegation also reviewed the free software engineering classes being provided by the Nav Gurukul organization. They were informed that through this 18-month course, students are being prepared for entrance exams such as PET, PMT, IIT, and JEE. Special sessions on English communication and leadership are also being conducted for the students.
The delegation praised the efforts being made in the district regarding education, employment, women’s empowerment, and the rehabilitation of Naxal victims, calling it an inspirational model for other regions. The event was attended by DIG Mr. Kamlochan Kashyap, Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, District Panchayat CEO Mr. Jayant Nahta, Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Smritik Rajnala, and other officials.
