CM Atishi Wins, But Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia Fail to Retain Their Seats

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Atishi has secured victory from the Kalkaji Assembly seat, marking her second consecutive win. She defeated BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, strengthening her position within the party.

However, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal suffered a major setback, losing the New Delhi Assembly seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma by 3,182 votes. This marks Kejriwal’s first electoral defeat in his political career. Reports indicate that Parvesh Verma is set to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, signaling a crucial political development.

AAP faced further losses in other key constituencies. Durgesh Pathak, the party’s candidate from Rajendra Nagar, was defeated by BJP’s Umang Bajaj. Meanwhile, Awadh Ojha, AAP’s candidate from Patparganj, conceded defeat, calling it a “personal failure.” He acknowledged his inability to connect with voters and expressed his intent to contest again in the future.

Adding to AAP’s woes, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia lost from Jangpura, further weakening the party’s standing in this election.

The results highlight a significant political shift in Delhi, with BJP gaining ground and AAP struggling to retain its stronghold.
