PM Modi to Visit BJP Headquarters as Party Secures Victory in Delhi

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to return to power in Delhi after 27 years, with early trends showing a decisive lead. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the party headquarters on Saturday evening to celebrate the victory.

Speaking about the results, Sachdeva emphasized that the people of Delhi have placed their trust in Modi’s leadership. “This is a historic victory for us and a clear endorsement of PM Modi’s model of good governance. The people have rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s governance model, which has failed them,” he said.

Celebrations Erupt at BJP Headquarters

As the BJP’s lead became evident, party workers gathered outside the headquarters in New Delhi, celebrating with firecrackers, dancing, and slogans. Senior BJP leaders, including Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and party vice-president Baijayant Panda, met at the party office to discuss the results and strategize for the future.

According to early Election Commission trends, the BJP is leading in 48 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is ahead in 22 constituencies. The majority mark to form the government in the 70-member Delhi Assembly is 36 seats, confirming BJP’s decisive win.

“People Have Rejected Kejriwal’s Governance,” Says Sachdeva

Speaking to ANI, Virendra Sachdeva stressed that this election was a battle between good and bad governance. He pointed out that Delhi’s deteriorating infrastructure and governance failures under AAP contributed to their defeat.

“The people of Delhi have rejected Kejriwal’s model of governance, which is evident from the condition of the city—contaminated water, broken roads, poor sanitation, and Yamuna pollution,” he stated. “Modi ji’s governance model, respected across the country, is what people have chosen instead.”

Key AAP Leaders Trailing

The results have dealt a significant blow to AAP’s leadership, with several top leaders trailing behind BJP candidates.

  • Arvind Kejriwal is behind by 1,174 votes in the New Delhi seat.
  • Saurabh Bharadwaj is trailing by 1,003 votes in Greater Kailash against BJP’s Shikha Roy.
  • Atishi is lagging by 3,231 votes in Kalkaji against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.

Among AAP’s senior leadership, only Manish Sisodia is currently leading, holding a 2,438-vote advantage in Jangpura.

Sachdeva accused AAP leaders of corruption and betrayal, stating that the people would not forgive them. “Kejriwal, Atishi, and Sisodia have all lost the trust of the public. They are the faces of corruption, and their defeat reflects the people’s anger,” he added.

BJP’s Aggressive Campaign Pays Off

The BJP’s campaign, led by PM Modi, aggressively targeted AAP, highlighting issues such as:

  • Alleged corruption in the Delhi government
  • The supposed poisoning of the Yamuna River
  • Lavish renovations of Kejriwal’s official residence

PM Modi himself criticized Kejriwal’s governance, referring to it as a “disaster” and dubbing his residence the “Sheesh Mahal” (Glass Palace).

High Voter Turnout

The Delhi Assembly elections were held on February 5, with a 60.54% voter turnout. With the final results expected soon, all eyes are on BJP’s next steps as it prepares to form the government.
