100 Acres of Land to be Allocated for ‘Vidarbha Global Skill University’ – CM Devendra Fadnavis
Nagpur : Various industrial clusters are emerging in Vidarbha, leading to a high demand for skilled manpower. Recognizing the future employment opportunities, there was a need for a university that could equip local youth with diverse skills. To address this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that 100 acres of land would be allocated for the establishment of Vidarbha Global Skill University.
He made this announcement during the concluding ceremony of the three-day MP Industrial Festival, organized by the Association for Industrial Development at the campus of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. The event was attended by MP Praful Patel, MLA Chitra Wagh, MLA Charan Singh Thakur, MLA Chainsukh Sancheti, former MP Vikas Mahatme, former MP Ajay Sancheti, Industries Secretary P. Anbalagan, Director of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Manoj Suryavanshi, IIM Director Dr. Bhimraya Metri, and other dignitaries.
Boosting Industrial Growth in Vidarbha
Praising AID for successfully organizing the MP Industrial Festival, CM Fadnavis expressed hopes that the event would facilitate large-scale job creation through strategic agreements. He noted that Vidarbha is witnessing development across various sectors, and the festival played a key role in providing a platform for these industries. He emphasized the goal of comprehensive development in Vidarbha, highlighting efforts to establish Nagpur and Amravati as magnet zones to boost regional growth. Additionally, he suggested that a tourism-based conference should be organized in the near future.
₹7.5 Lakh Crore Investment in Vidarbha – Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the second edition of the highly successful MP Industrial Festival had attracted investments worth ₹7.5 lakh crore in various projects across Vidarbha. He also highlighted that Gadchiroli district possesses some of the world’s finest iron ore deposits, which could lead to the establishment of major industries in the neighboring districts. He expressed satisfaction over the ongoing operations of Boeing at Nagpur’s MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facility, which is positioning Nagpur as a major aviation hub.
Maharashtra to Lead in Plug-and-Play Industrial Zones – Piyush Goyal
Union Minister Piyush Goyal lauded Union Minister Gadkari’s proposal to set up a Skill University between Nagpur and Butibori. He further stated that the Union Budget has approved the creation of 100 plug-and-play industrial zones across India, with Maharashtra set to take the lead in this initiative.
Key MoUs Signed
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed to boost industrial investments in Vidarbha:
- Artificial Electronics Intelligent Materials Ltd. will invest ₹10,000 crore in the electronic semiconductor sector in Nagpur, creating 500 jobs. The agreement was signed by Industries Secretary P. Anbalagan on behalf of the state government.
- Shrem Group of Companies will invest ₹800 crore in the biofuel sector in Vidarbha, generating 100 jobs. This agreement was also signed by Industries Secretary P. Anbalagan.
- Olectra EV Chairman K.V. Pradeep provided insights into the company’s upcoming investments in Nagpur. This MoU was initially signed during the Davos Summit.
The event commenced with an introductory speech by AID President Ashish Kale, followed by remarks from MP Praful Patel and Organizing Committee Chairman Ajay Sancheti. The festival also featured a documentary showcasing its highlights. Before the event, goldsmiths from Vidarbha honored CM Fadnavis. The festival attracted a crowd of approximately 1.25 lakh visitors.
