Implement Initiatives to Strengthen Social Harmony – Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : To enhance social harmony in the state, the police force should organize various initiatives that bring together people from different communities, especially the youth, and foster social unity, instructed Minister of State for Home (Urban), Revenue, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Food & Civil Supplies, Consumer Protection, and Food & Drug Administration Yogesh Kadam during a review meeting today.

The meeting was held at the Police Commissionerate, where Minister Kadam reviewed the performance of the police force in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The meeting was attended by Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar, Deputy Commissioners Nitin Bagate, Prashant Swami, and Shilwant Nagarekar, along with other senior police officers. The review covered crime investigations, preventive actions, traffic management, cybercrime, financial frauds, communal riots, narcotics, Damini Squad, and the Bharosa Cell.

Crime Statistics and Police Measures

During the meeting, officials reported that out of 5,947 registered cases in the past year, investigations in 4,709 cases have been completed. Additionally, traffic violations involving 562,091 vehicles resulted in fines totaling ₹42.87 crore. With rapid industrialization and urbanization, the incidence of crimes such as financial fraud, cybercrime, and drug-related offenses is increasing. Over the past year, 134 narcotics cases were registered, leading to the seizure of contraband worth ₹40.47 lakh and legal action against 223 accused individuals. Officials also highlighted that drone patrolling and a command control center are being used for enhanced surveillance in urban areas.

Focus on Social Harmony and Law & Order

Minister Kadam emphasized that as industrial investments grow, it is essential to preserve social harmony and maintain law and order. He urged the police force to initiate programs that engage youth from all communities, promote interactions, and foster mutual understanding. Such efforts, he stated, would strengthen peace and stability in society.

He also directed the strict implementation of the 100-day, seven-point program announced by the Chief Minister. Additionally, he called for intensified action against drug-related offenses, urging the active participation of teachers, police officers, and parents in raising awareness. He stressed the need for identifying and investigating cases of illegal residence of Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants.

Regarding confiscated goods, he noted that many seized items remain unused for years. The state government is formulating a comprehensive disposal policy, which will soon be implemented. He also encouraged greater use of the e-office system to enhance efficiency.

As industrial investments increase, migration to the district will rise, leading to population growth. To ensure effective law enforcement, Minister Kadam assured that the police force will be modernized with advanced technology.

Recognition for Police Officers

Following the meeting, Minister Kadam felicitated police officers and personnel involved in the successful investigation of the Chaitanya Tupe kidnapping case.
