Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Likely to Visit Maha Kumbh on February 19 or 20
New Delhi : Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are expected to visit the Maha Kumbh on February 19 or 20, according to UP Congress President Ajay Rai. Speaking to the media in Etawah on Sunday, Rai hinted at their possible participation, stating, “All of us Congress leaders are going to Maha Kumbh on February 19, and our senior leaders may join us.”
Rai emphasized that Congress leaders have traditionally participated in Kumbh gatherings. “Priyanka Gandhi and many other leaders have visited Kumbh before. We will all go, take a holy dip, and chant ‘Har-Har Mahadev,'” he said. However, the BJP dismissed the visit as political opportunism, accusing Rahul Gandhi of vote bank politics.
A senior UP Congress leader acknowledged that while there is significant pressure on the Gandhi family from the state leadership to attend, no official confirmation has been received from Delhi. Earlier reports had suggested that Rahul Gandhi might visit on Sunday, but this did not materialize.
Meanwhile, Ajay Rai criticized the central government over the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, calling it a tragic failure of governance. “Ensuring public safety is the government’s responsibility,” he stated, demanding the resignation of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
As anticipation builds over the Gandhis’ potential visit, political discourse surrounding their participation in Maha Kumbh 2025 continues.
