Jaipur – Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the importance of promoting Hindi, stating that it is not just an official language but also a symbol of India’s cultural heritage and national unity. He urged everyone to make every possible effort to expand the reach of Hindi, as it is both a constitutional directive and a national necessity.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Joint Regional Official Language Conference for the Central, Western, and Northern regions, organized by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, at JECC, Sitapura, Jaipur. He stressed the need for collective efforts to enhance the use and respect for Hindi across all sectors, ensuring that it remains a powerful medium for India’s social and cultural expression.

Hindi: A Strong Reflection of Our Culture, Thought, and Ideals

Highlighting the role of Hindi in the digital era, CM Sharma stated that incorporating Hindi into digital platforms is essential. The conference provided insights into new methods and tools for working in Hindi on computers, which he appreciated. He emphasized that Hindi is not just a language but a strong representation of India’s culture, thought process, and ideals.

The Chief Minister also praised the efforts of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai in strengthening the country’s internal security and social harmony. He commended their leadership for enhancing national security and building trust among citizens. Additionally, he congratulated individuals and institutions honored for their contributions to the promotion of Hindi, stating that their efforts reinforce India’s commitment to the language.

Hindi as a Unifying Force – Union Minister of State for Home Affairs

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai stated that while respecting all Indian languages, Hindi should be promoted as the common language of communication. He emphasized that the use of Hindi serves as a unifying force for the nation. He described language as the inner strength of society and the nation, noting that while it is a means of communication, it also embodies the soul of a country and enables dialogue among its people.

Government’s Efforts to Strengthen Hindi and Indian Languages

Minister Rai highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enrich and strengthen Hindi, ensuring that welfare programs reach every citizen in their language. He stressed the importance of using simple and accessible Hindi to bridge the gap between official and common usage, so that every Indian feels connected to the country’s progress. He also mentioned that over the past 10 years, significant steps have been taken to enhance the use of Hindi and other Indian languages.

Hindi’s Global Influence and Role in National Unity

Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa noted that Hindi is popular not only in India but also in countries like Nepal, Suriname, Fiji, Mauritius, and Guyana. He emphasized the role of Hindi in India’s freedom struggle, advocating for the translation of literary masterpieces between Hindi and other Indian languages to further strengthen national unity.

MP Manju Sharma reiterated that regional languages and Hindi are not competitors but complementary to each other. She called for wider promotion of Hindi so that government initiatives reach the people effectively. She also expressed gratitude to Jaipur’s residents for hosting the conference.

Encouraging the Effective Implementation of Hindi

Anshuli Arya, Secretary of the Department of Official Language, stated that regional official language conferences aim to encourage the effective implementation of Hindi across the country. She emphasized that promoting Hindi and Indian languages contributes to building a self-reliant and developed India. The event also served as a platform to express gratitude to India’s constitution makers for their vision of linguistic unity.

Awards for Excellence in Hindi Implementation

During the event, central government offices, nationalized banks, public sector enterprises, and town official language implementation committees from the Central, Western, and Northern regions were honored for their outstanding work in promoting Hindi. Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated an exhibition organized by the Department of Official Language.

The conference was attended by Joint Secretary Dr. Meenakshi Jolly, eminent writer Dr. Indushekhar Tatpurush, and senior officials from central government offices, banks, and enterprises representing 16 states and union territories.
