CM Stalin Issues Appointment Orders for Four Differently-Abled Faculty Members in Tamil Nadu Music Colleges

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued appointment orders for four differently-abled individuals as faculty members in Chennai and Madurai Tamil Nadu Music Colleges. The event was held at the Chief Secretariat under the Department of Art and Culture.

Under the Tamil Nadu Government’s Department of Art and Culture, music colleges are functioning in Chennai, Madurai, Thiruvaiyaru, and Coimbatore. These institutions offer undergraduate and diploma courses in various disciplines, including Veena, Violin, Nadaswaram, Thavil, Bharatanatyam, and Folk Music. Additionally, certificate programs are available in instruments such as Flute, Mridangam, Kanjira, and Kuthu Vilakku, along with courses for folk artists and music instructors.

The Tamil Nadu Music Colleges were established to preserve and promote the state’s rich musical heritage, ensuring its global recognition. The Chennai Tamil Nadu Music College also attracts international students who come to train in Indian classical music. Graduates of these colleges not only showcase their skills in India and abroad but also train future musicians.

To fill vacant faculty positions, a Special Recruitment Drive was conducted to recruit differently-abled candidates. As a result, the following individuals were selected:

  • Veena Faculty: Mr. V. Kamalraj (Cuddalore) – Chennai Music College
  • Violin Faculty: Mr. I. Amirtharaj (Thanjavur) – Chennai Music College
  • Thavil Faculty: Mr. N. Kumar (Madurai) – Madurai Music College
  • Flute Faculty: Mr. R. Sukheshbabu (Krishnagiri) – Madurai Music College

Following the recruitment process, CM Stalin handed over the appointment orders.

The event was attended by Tamil Development and Information Minister M.P. Saminathan, Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr. K. Manivasan, and Director of Art and Culture, Ms. Kavitha Swamy, along with other officials.
