Mizoram Statehood Day 2025 Message by Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd)

Greetings to all.

On this momentous occasion of Mizoram Statehood Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone.

On February 20, 1987, Mizoram was officially recognized as the 23rd state of India. This historic milestone marked a new era of progress, peace, and prosperity for the people of Mizoram.

This day is a symbol of unity, reconciliation, and the unwavering faith of the Mizo people. It stands as a testament to the power of dialogue and democratic processes, which led to the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord on June 30, 1986, between the Government of India and the Mizo National Front—one of the most successful peace agreements in India’s history.

Since attaining statehood, Mizoram has made remarkable strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and overall socio-economic development. The state takes pride in its rich cultural heritage, harmonious way of life, and strong community spirit, which have contributed to its progress and stability.

On this occasion, I also take the opportunity to highlight the importance of national integration and mutual understanding among states and union territories. The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative promotes unity in diversity and strengthens the bonds between different cultures and traditions across the country.

I urge everyone to embrace this spirit of unity by respecting and appreciating the diverse cultures and traditions of our fellow citizens. True national integration can only be achieved by fostering mutual respect and inclusivity.

As we celebrate this significant day, let us renew our commitment to the continued progress of Mizoram and our nation. Let us work together to safeguard peace, uphold our traditions, and contribute towards India’s vision of becoming a developed nation—‘Vikshit Bharat’—by 2047.
