“Revanth Reddy: Telangana Seeks Amicable Ties with New AP Govt”

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated on Wednesday that the state seeks friendly ties with whoever forms the government in Andhra Pradesh, so that both states can amicably resolve their issues. Revanth expressed his willingness to attend the swearing-in ceremony of N. Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister, should he receive an invitation. He also reaffirmed Congress’s commitment to granting Special Category status to Andhra Pradesh, as mandated by legislation passed in Parliament.

Addressing the media, Revanth Reddy alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had transferred its votes to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections. He criticized the TRS leadership for allegedly compromising their principles to ensure BJP’s victory.

Revanth accused TRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao of sacrificing the dignity of TRS legislators to secure BJP’s support for his family’s interests. He pointed out that the TRS failed to win any seats in Parliament for the first time since its formation, forfeiting deposits in seven out of eight seats won by the BJP.

The Telangana Chief Minister highlighted the significant drop in TRS’s vote share from the Assembly elections to the Lok Sabha polls, while noting the BJP’s increase in vote share during the same period.

Revanth Reddy alleged that TRS legislator T. Harish Rao had fully transferred his votes to the BJP, helping them defeat the Congress candidate. He urged Telangana’s society and all democratic and secular forces to take note of how TRS’s actions facilitated BJP’s electoral success. Revanth expressed satisfaction with the Congress party’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections, noting an increase in the party’s tally from three to eight seats.

He interpreted the Lok Sabha elections as a referendum on Congress governance in the state, claiming that the increased seats and vote share reflected public endorsement of the government. Revanth claimed that the people’s support for Congress governance was evident in the by-election victory in the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly seat, which increased Congress’s tally to 65 seats in the Assembly. He asserted that the people had taught TRS a lesson for their allegations against Congress and conspiracies against the government.

Revanth Reddy also commented on the BJP’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections, suggesting that the “Modi guarantee” slogan had been rejected by the people, and calling for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation.
