One District-One Product Zone becomes special attraction of GIS
A ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) Zone was set up at the Manav Sangrahalaya complex for both foreign and domestic investors attending the Global Investors Summit 2025. This zone showcased selected products from various districts under the One District-One Product scheme, aiming to attract investment and highlight the uniqueness of local industries. Additionally, a large exhibition titled ‘One District-One Product Village’ was organized to provide national and international market exposure to these products. The One District-One Product Zone became a key attraction at GIS, drawing significant interest from foreign investors and guests. Visitors explored, understood, and appreciated the diverse products representing different districts of Madhya Pradesh.
A glimpse of the colourful folk culture of the state noticed in the ODOP zone
In the ODOP zone located in the Manav Sangrahalaya complex, foreign investors and guests were shown a glimpse of the colourful folk culture of the state. Badhai of Bundelkhand, Gadli Susun dance of the Korku community of Betul, the sweet tune of the flute, the beats of drums and jhunjhuri made the entire atmosphere joyful.
Folk artists from different regions of the state presented folk dances dressed in colourful costumes. The investors and guests who came to see the ODOP zone encouraged the folk artists with applause and also took selfies.
Guests appreciated local products, enjoyed the cuisine
In the ODOP zone, special products from different districts of the state like Gwalior sand stone, Burhanpur banana products, Betul metal decoration material, Shivpuri jacket, Sehore wooden toys etc. were observed. Everyone appreciated the quality and creativity of the products. The guests enjoyed Bundelkhandi, Malvi and traditional tribal cuisine.
ODOP includes special products of 52 districts
Under the ODOP scheme, special products of a particular region are included due to their geographical, biological, natural, or production characteristics. Special government efforts are made to select such products in the scheme and to protect and promote them. At present, the ODOP scheme is being run in 52 districts of Madhya Pradesh, which includes green vegetables, coarse grains, handicrafts, handloom, handicrafts, equipment etc.
19 products of the state receive GI tag
The state government is actively promoting local artists and indigenous products, offering special encouragement to their growth and recognition. So far, 19 products from various districts have received the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag. These GI-tagged products include: Chanderi Saree, Bagh Print, Nagpuri Orange, Ratlami Sev, Kadaknath Chicken, Chinnor Rice, Boutique Print, Stone Craft, Leather Toy, Bell Metal Ware, Maheshwari Saree, Mahoba Deswari Paan, Morena Gajak, Sundarja Mango, Sharbati Wheat, Gond Painting, Wrought Iron Craft, Handmade Carpet, Handloom Saree of Varasivani. Out of these, 7 products are also included in the ODOP scheme.
