Environmental Fine of ₹10.51 Lakh Imposed on 14 Industries in Raigarh

Strict Action Against Transportation of Raw Materials and Waste Without Safety Standards

Raipur : The administration has taken strict action against violations of environmental safety regulations during the transportation of raw materials, products, and waste in Raigarh district. Based on the directives of Collector Shri Kartikeya Goyal, a joint inspection team conducted a detailed investigation last week, imposing an environmental compensation fine of ₹10.51 lakh on 14 industries.

Regional Environmental Officer Shri Ankur Sahu stated that from February 15 to 21, 2025, a district-level inspection committee conducted intensive checks in Chandrapur, Kodatarai, Hamirpur, Dhimarapur, Tamnar, Gharghoda, and Palgarha, among other areas. Several vehicles were found transporting raw materials in open conditions without tarpaulin covers, posing a significant risk of environmental pollution.

Additionally, some vehicles lacked the mandatory 5 cm freeboard space, increasing the risk of material spillage. Furthermore, several vehicles did not display the name of the concerned nodal officer, which is a direct violation of regulatory norms.
