MP’s Mining Boom to Fuel Economic Development: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a key center in the field of mining and mineral resources. Due to the state’s abundant mineral wealth and investment-friendly policies, it is playing a crucial role in the country’s industrial progress. The mining sector will not only strengthen the state’s economy but will also contribute significantly to the country’s industrial development and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is ensuring continuous development in the mining sector, leading to economic growth and increased employment opportunities.

Dr. Yadav mentioned that investment proposals worth Rs 3.22 lakh crore have been received under the mining and mineral resources sector at GIS-Bhopal, which will generate employment for 55,000 youth—a significant achievement for the state. He emphasized that due to the proactive policies of the government, the mining sector is reaching new heights in investment, industrial development, and job creation. Madhya Pradesh is rapidly moving toward becoming the leading center of the mining industry in the country.

Leading Companies Investing in GIS-Bhopal

Dr. Yadav highlighted that some of the country’s leading companies have shown interest in the mining sector. In the coming years, companies investing in mineral extraction and processing include Adani Group (Rewa, Jabalpur), Gold Crest Cement Pvt Ltd (Ujjain), Auro Coal Pvt Ltd (Shahdol), Aditya Birla Group – EMIL Mines & Minerals Ltd (Rewa), Aditya Birla Group’s UltraTech Cement Ltd (Rewa), Stocks Works Pvt Ltd (Jabalpur), Sharda Energy & Minerals Ltd (Shahdol), JK Cement Ltd (Shahdol), Prime-4 Inspection LLC (Bhopal), Rekan Chemicals (Indore), Birla Corporation Ltd (Rewa), Ramdas Verma & Co (Shahdol)

Madhya Pradesh – A Leader in Mineral Resources

Dr. Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh holds the top position in India for the production of copper ore, manganese ore, and diamonds. It is the only diamond-producing state in the country, giving it a unique identity in the mining industry. Additionally, the state ranks second in rock phosphate production, third in limestone, and fourth in coal production. The mineral resources of the state support the development of thermal power plants, cement manufacturing, ferroalloys, marble cutting and polishing units, and refractory industries. This continuous boost to the mining industry reinforces Madhya Pradesh’s leading role in mining and industrial development.

Historic Achievement in Mining Block Auctions

Dr. Yadav noted that Madhya Pradesh has made historic achievements in mining block auctions. Due to investment-friendly policies, the state conducted a record auction of 85 mining blocks in 2023, securing the top position in the country. In July 2022, the Government of India awarded Madhya Pradesh the first prize for the best performance in mineral auctions. Additionally, the state ranked second in iron ore, limestone, and bauxite mining auctions. In 2024, at the second conference of state mining ministers, Madhya Pradesh was honored for its mining block auctions and proactive mining initiatives, reflecting its excellence and visionary policies in the sector.

The Chief Minister emphasized that with investment-friendly policies, the Madhya Pradesh government has ensured simple and transparent processes in the mining sector, making it an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investors. The state’s well-developed infrastructure, including excellent road, rail, and port connectivity, will facilitate transportation and exports. Moreover, the abundant availability of skilled labor supports the needs of mining and mineral-based industries. The government is also promoting environmentally sensitive and sustainable mining practices, ensuring a balanced use of natural resources.

MoU for Copper and Strategic Mineral Exploration to Boost Sustainable Development

At GIS-Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government, MP State Mining Corporation Ltd., and Hindustan Copper Ltd. signed an MoU to utilize funds from the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET). Through this initiative, Hindustan Copper Ltd. will lead the exploration of copper and other strategic minerals. If mineral extraction is found viable, a joint venture will be established with a 51:49 partnership. Over the next five years, this initiative will promote sustainable development. GIS-Bhopal is expected to play a pivotal role in making Madhya Pradesh a leader in the mining sector.
