Moving Forward Together for a Developed and Prosperous Rajasthan – CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that both the ruling and opposition parties must work together to build a developed and prosperous Rajasthan, keeping in mind the aspirations of the state’s 8 crore people. He stated that maintaining the dignity of the Assembly is a shared responsibility of both the ruling and opposition members.

Addressing the Assembly on Thursday, after the resolution of the ongoing deadlock, the Chief Minister remarked that during debates and discussions, statements may sometimes be made that were not intended. However, such instances should not lead to disruptions in the House. He stressed that regardless of whether one belongs to the ruling or opposition party, the people of Rajasthan have great expectations from their representatives. He urged all members to uphold the respect and trust the public places in them, as this would eliminate divisions and foster unity.

Speak with Thoughtfulness, as Wrong Words Affect Everyone

CM Sharma highlighted that any statement that does not align with the dignity of the House is not only inappropriate for others but also self-damaging. He noted that members who make inappropriate remarks often regret them later. Hence, he advised all legislators to choose their words wisely, as minor issues can escalate into major conflicts.

The Speaker Deserves Respect, and Following Rules is the Greatest Discipline

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of respecting the Speaker, stating that many esteemed individuals have held that position. He reminded members that the Speaker plays a crucial role in managing Assembly proceedings. While members often cite rules and regulations, he emphasized that the most fundamental principle is to adhere to them. He urged legislators to avoid unnecessary disruptions, as Assembly sessions are funded by the people of Rajasthan, and every minute should be used productively in the public’s interest.

Conduct with Dignity and Respect

Sharma acknowledged the recent disruptions in the Assembly, with some suggesting adjournment. However, he asserted that the Assembly exists for constructive debate and deliberation on public issues. He cautioned against making impulsive remarks in moments of emotional intensity and urged members to conduct themselves with dignity. He reminded them that, like a fruit-laden tree that bends, a true leader should demonstrate humility and grace.

Recognizing Good Deeds and Calling Out the Wrong

The Chief Minister stated that when opposition members present strong arguments, he personally calls them to appreciate their contributions. He emphasized the need to acknowledge good speeches and constructive discussions while also addressing inappropriate behavior.

Sharma urged the Speaker to expunge certain remarks made by a minister and reiterated that all members should be mindful of their words, as the public closely watches their conduct. He affirmed that the opposition is a vital part of democracy and that his government values their input for the benefit of Rajasthan’s people.

In conclusion, CM Sharma expressed gratitude to the Leader of Opposition and Chief Whip for initiating dialogue to resolve the deadlock. Earlier, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie had thanked the Chief Minister for engaging in discussions to restore order in the Assembly.
