They saw firsthand how Bundelkhand, once plagued by water scarcity before 2017, has undergone a remarkable turnaround.

Pilgrims from across the country and the world also explored the new narrative of a prosperous Uttar Pradesh, showcased through initiatives like PM Awas Yojana, Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, Gram Panchayat development, and solar energy integration within a 40,000-square-foot model village. This development story offered every visitor a deeper understanding of Transformed UP.

As part of Maha Kumbh 2025, the Rural Water Supply and Namami Gange Department established Swachh Sujal Gaon, designed around the theme ‘Peyjal ka Samadhan, Mere Gaon ki Nayi Pehchan’. Rural women from Bundelkhand shared their powerful testimonies on a cultural platform, recounting how water scarcity once hindered marriages in Banda, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot, while in parts of Lalitpur and Mahoba, the burden of carrying water led to severe hair loss among women. Their stories highlighted the profound impact of access to clean water on daily life and well-being.

Emphasizing India’s tradition of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, visitors to Swachh Sujal Village were honored with ‘Jal Prasad’, distributed to over 25 lakh guests in eco-friendly jute-cloth bags. These contained sacred Sangam water, a Jal Jeevan Mission diary, and inspiring stories of transformation and success.

The Jal Mandir at the village reinforced the message: ‘Jal Prasad Hai, Jal Jeevandayi Hai—Conserve It, Don’t Waste It.’ Morning and evening Ganga Jal Aarti further enriched the spiritual atmosphere.

A quiz competition on tap water engaged thousands of young participants, with 10,229 winners receiving online certificates. Additionally, beyond the major bathing days, over 3.60 lakh people participated digitally in ‘Jal Jeevan Mission: The Water Run’ games, reinforcing awareness about water conservation and sustainable practices.
