Budget 2025-26 Lays the Foundation for Andhra Pradesh’s Reconstruction: CM Chandrababu Naidu
₹47,456 Cr Allocated for BC Welfare | Major Outlay for ‘Super Six’ Schemes | Roadmap for Swarna Andhra 2047
Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has hailed the state’s 2025-26 budget as a transformative step toward rebuilding the state. Emphasizing his government’s commitment to welfare, development, and good governance, he described the budget as the foundation for Andhra Pradesh’s reconstruction.
Despite financial challenges inherited from the previous administration, the government has been working diligently to restore systems and reintroduce welfare programs. “Within just eight months, we have implemented key welfare initiatives, including pension hikes, the revival of Anna Canteens, and the Deepam scheme. Additionally, 74 out of 93 centrally sponsored schemes, which were halted by the previous government, have been restarted,” the Chief Minister noted, reacting to the budget presented by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav.
A Progressive Budget to Reshape Andhra Pradesh
Naidu asserted that the budget is not merely a statement of departmental allocations but a strategic blueprint for holistic development. “This progressive budget is designed to alter the course of Andhra Pradesh. With a total outlay of ₹3,22,359 crore, it serves as a bridge to realizing the ten guiding principles of the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision,” he said.
A major push has been given to poverty eradication, with ₹2,000 crore allocated under the Viability Gap Fund to support infrastructure projects. The government also aims to strengthen public-private partnerships to drive new development initiatives.
‘Super Six’ Schemes Receive Priority
Fulfilling its electoral promises, the government has made substantial allocations for the ‘Super Six’ schemes. Notably, ₹6,300 crore has been earmarked for the ‘Annadata Sukhibhava’ scheme to support farmers, while ₹9,407 crore has been allocated for the ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ scheme, which aims to uplift women and families.
Historic Allocation for BC Welfare
Underlining his government’s commitment to social justice, Naidu highlighted a record allocation of ₹47,456 crore for Backward Classes (BC) welfare. Additionally, ₹1,000 crore has been set aside for the implementation of the Adarana-3 scheme, designed to support traditional occupations among BC communities.
In a landmark decision, the government has also approved an additional ₹50,000 for BC families constructing houses. Furthermore, to support fisherfolk during the annual fishing ban period, ₹230 crore has been allocated, ensuring ₹20,000 in financial assistance per individual.
Empowering Farmers and Strengthening Key Sectors
Recognizing Andhra Pradesh’s vital role in India’s food security, the government has dedicated ₹48,341 crore to the agriculture sector. Additionally, ₹18,019 crore has been set aside for the crucial water resources sector to enhance irrigation infrastructure.
Other significant allocations include:
₹34,311 crore for education
₹20,218 crore for Scheduled Caste (SC) welfare
₹8,159 crore for Scheduled Tribe (ST) welfare
₹5,434 crore for minority welfare
Infrastructure and Industrial Growth for Revenue Generation
The Chief Minister underscored the link between development and revenue generation, stressing that infrastructure expansion would fuel the state’s economic resurgence. “Development drives revenue, and revenue enables comprehensive welfare,” he remarked.
To this end, the budget has allocated:
₹8,785 crore for road development
₹3,156 crore for industrial sector growth
Additionally, significant funds have been assigned to key projects, including the Polavaram irrigation project, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Swachh Andhra initiatives.
A People-Centric Government
Reaffirming his government’s unwavering commitment to the people, Naidu stated, “Every second, every hour, and every day, we are working to address the needs and aspirations of our citizens. This budget is a reflection of that dedication.”
As the first full-fledged budget since assuming office, Naidu expressed confidence that it would set Andhra Pradesh on a trajectory of sustained growth, paving the way for the realization of the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision.
