Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel’s empathy towards the Divyang people
The state government has reduced the disability eligibility criteria for benefits under the Sant Surdas Yojana from 80% to 60%: Over 85,000 Divyangs will receive assistance: Chief Minister.
The 8th Divyang Mass Marriage Ceremony was Organized in Gandhinagar by Samarpan Muk-Badhir Shishu Vidya Mandir, managed by the Saraswati Education Charitable Trust
Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel attended the 8th Divyang Mass Marriage Ceremony, blessing 12 Divyang couples as they began their new journey together.
The event was organized by Samarpan Muk-Badhir Shishu Vidya Mandir, which is run by the Saraswati Education Charitable Trust in Gandhinagar. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment towards supporting people with disabilities and supporting them to live with dignity.
In this regard, he highlighted the provision made in the recent state budget, about reducing the disability eligibility criteria for benefits under the Sant Surdas Yojana from 80% to 60%.
As a result, more than 85,000 people with disabilities will receive an annual assistance of ₹12,000 under the Sant Surdas Yojana. He also stated that a budgetary provision of ₹170 crore has been allocated for the same.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel lauded the service of Saraswati Education Charitable Trust, which has been managing Samarpan Muk-Badhir Shishu Vidya Mandir, since 1984, providing education to 235 Divyangs from Grade 1 to 10.
During the ceremony, donors, dignitaries, business and industrial leaders from various sections of society gifted the newlyweds with essential household items, clothing, etc.
The Chief Minister also commended the generosity and spirit of social service demonstrated by these donors.
The Managing trustee of the institution and youth leader, Shri Nishit Vyas, in his welcome address, warmly greeted the Chief Minister and other guests and outlined the entire planning of this mass marriage ceremony for people with disabilities.
The event was attended by Gandhinagar MLA Smt. Rita Patel, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Shri Natuji Thakor, Standing Committee Chairman Shri Gaurang Vyas, City President Shri Ruchir Bhatt, former Mayor Shri Hitesh Makwana, B.K. Kailash Didi, senior leader Shri Krishnakant Jha, volunteers and family members of the newlywed.
