Lawngtlai – Dr. Lorrain Lalpekliana Chinzah, Adviser to the Chief Minister and MLA of Lawngtlai East, presided over the Hlukhla Kut 2025 celebration at CYLA Playground, Chandmary, Lawngtlai.

Dr. Chinzah began by expressing his gratitude to the Organizing Committee and all those who traveled to attend the festival. He emphasized the importance of cultural preservation and strengthening ethnic identity. He encouraged attendees to take pride in their heritage, language, and traditions, highlighting the need for renewed cultural awareness.

The MLA stressed that self-awareness and identity are crucial in shaping a better future for individuals, families, communities, and the state. He urged everyone to embrace their responsibilities and strive for progress while upholding their cultural values. He also emphasized the importance of respecting elders, maintaining unity, and fostering honesty and dedication in daily life.

Speaking on the importance of education, Dr. Chinzah encouraged young people to strive for excellence and develop their skills. He pointed out that knowledge and expertise are key to personal and community growth. He urged the youth to work diligently and take pride in their cultural identity while adapting to modern challenges.

Dr. Chinzah also highlighted the need for unity, mutual respect, and compassion in the community. He called upon village council leaders and various voluntary organizations to contribute more actively towards the development of the region. He encouraged citizens to support and collaborate with community leaders in advancing Lawngtlai’s progress.

He further emphasized that as the world is rapidly evolving, the younger generation must remain deeply rooted in cultural values while embracing change. He urged the community to uphold the spirit of unity and togetherness, particularly among different ethnic groups in the Zohnathlak region.

Hlukhla Kut, a significant and widely celebrated festival of the Lai people, is observed annually. This year, it was celebrated over two days, from February 28 to March 1. The festival showcased various cultural performances, including traditional music, dance, and sports competitions, making it a vibrant and joyous event for all attendees.
