Khilli Ram Meena, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Mizoram, Visits Mamit
Mamit – Shri Khilli Ram Meena, IAS, Chief Secretary of Mizoram, visited Mamit today, where he attended a meeting with officials from various departments at the DC Conference Hall, Mamit. The meeting was chaired by Pu K. Laltlawmlova, District Commissioner.

During the meeting, Shri Khilli Ram Meena emphasized the importance of effective implementation of development initiatives in Mamit District. He urged officials to work diligently towards ensuring sustainable progress and better governance. He also highlighted the need for responsible decision-making and efficient resource utilization for the district’s growth. The Chief Secretary stressed that true development is achieved through investments in education and efficient use of available opportunities, which can significantly contribute to overall progress.
Pu K. Laltlawmlova provided an overview of Mamit District, stating that it has a population of 101,290 and covers an area of 3,025 sq. km. The district has 20,902 households, with a literacy rate of 84.93%. He further mentioned that under the Aspirational Districts program, Mamit has made remarkable progress, securing ₹19 crore from NITI Aayog due to its improvements. The district currently ranks 5th in overall performance. Several key schemes, including those under the North Eastern Council (NEC), NESIDS-ODRI, National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm, Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, Nagar Van Yojana, Housing for All, Fifteenth Finance Commission, MGNREGA, PMAY, PMKSY, and PMMSY, are being implemented to accelerate development.
Pu Pukhraj Kamal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Mamit, also presented an update on law enforcement and security measures in the district. He informed that Mamit has three police sub-divisions—Mamit, Kawrthah, and W. Phaileng—along with five police stations and one outpost. He outlined various strategies being implemented to enhance security and maintain law and order.
As part of his visit, the Chief Secretary inspected the 132 KV power transmission line from Bairabi to W. Phaileng via Mamit and also visited Mamit College.
