CM Stalin Engages with Fishermen in Nagapattinam, Assures Support
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin met with the residents of the fishing village in Nambiar Nagar, Nagapattinam, and listened to their concerns.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister participated in a government event in Nagapattinam, where he inaugurated completed projects, laid the foundation stones for new development initiatives, and distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries.
Following this, the Chief Minister visited the Nambiar Nagar small fishing harbor to inspect its facilities. This harbor, constructed at a cost of ₹34.30 crore, includes a boat landing facility, docking walls on the east and north sides, an entrance deepening structure, retaining walls, and other necessary infrastructure. It was inaugurated by the Chief Minister on 09.03.2023. Additionally, to address coastal erosion along a 700-meter stretch, a four-layer protective seawall was built at a cost of ₹10 crore and inaugurated on 08.03.2024.
During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with the local fishing community and took note of their grievances. The fishermen requested the renovation of tsunami rehabilitation housing and sought relief measures such as waiving bank loans. In response, the Chief Minister assured them that necessary steps would be taken to address their concerns.
Later, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by students of the municipal middle school in Nambiar Nagar, where he engaged in conversation with the children.

Panneerselvam (Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare), Thiru Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi (School Education), Tamil Nadu’s Delhi Representative Thiru A.K.S. Vijayan, MP Thiru Mohammed Shanavas, Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department Chairman Thiru N. Gowthaman, Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation Chairman Thiru U. Mathivanan, and other senior government officials.
