Government Committed to Providing Better Healthcare Facilities for Women – Minister Aditi Tatkare
Mumbai : Women’s health is a crucial issue. While balancing family responsibilities and professional careers, women face numerous challenges. To ensure their physical and mental well-being, the government is committed to providing various facilities and remains dedicated to their holistic development, stated Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare.
She was speaking at a Women’s Day program organized by the Durga Mahila Manch under the Maharashtra State Gazetted Officers Federation at the Ministry’s Conference Hall. The event was attended by Durga Mahila Manch President Siddhi Sankpal, Vice President Suvarna Joshi-Khandelwal, Treasurer Vishakha Adhav, General Secretary Saroj Jagtap, Chief Advisor G. D. Kulathe, and representatives of the State Employees’ Federation.
Minister Aditi Tatkare emphasized that the government is working on implementing various initiatives for working women, such as regular health check-ups after the age of 30, Vipassana camps, clean restrooms, and hygienic facilities. She stressed the importance of addressing women’s fundamental needs, rights, and equal status in society. The government’s decision to include the mother’s name alongside the father’s in official records is a progressive step that reinforces the importance of mothers and fosters a positive mindset in future generations.
She also highlighted the dual roles that working women play, managing both careers and families. Recognizing the importance of maternal health, the government is considering increasing child care leave for female state employees.
During the event, several key concerns were discussed, including a two-year childcare leave policy for female officers and employees, setting up Internal Complaint Committees in all offices with quarterly reviews, clean and well-maintained restrooms and rest areas for women in government offices, improved facilities for women in public transportation, and security measures for female employees working late shifts, including transportation arrangements. The minister assured that these demands would be deliberated at the government level.
