International-Standard Fish Market and Koli Bhavan to be Established in Marol – Fisheries & Ports Minister Nitesh Rane
Mumbai : Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has directed officials to set up an international-standard fish market and Koli Bhavan in Marol, Andheri East, modeled after those in Dubai and Sydney.
A review meeting on the development of the fish market, Koli Bhavan, and fishermen’s issues was held at the Ministry under the chairmanship of Minister Nitesh Rane. The meeting was attended by BMC Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani, Fisheries Department Secretary Ramaswamy N., Commissioner Kishore Tawde, Fisheries Corporation General Manager Ankita Meshram, and representatives of Basil Company.
Minister Nitesh Rane stated that the international fish market would provide better facilities for fishermen and boost the fisheries sector. He emphasized that this project is crucial in modernizing the traditional fishing trade of the Koli community in Marol and making it competitive in the global market.
He further instructed that innovative ideas should be incorporated to ensure that the fish market and Koli Bhavan meet global standards. Representatives from Basil Company also gave a presentation on the proposed design and structure of the fish market and Koli Bhavan.
