Security Tightened Around Aurangzeb’s Tomb Amid VHP, Bajrang Dal Threats
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra – Security has been significantly increased around Aurangzeb’s tomb following threats from Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal. The two groups have warned of “kar seva” and demanded the removal of the tomb, prompting authorities to take immediate action to prevent any untoward incident.
On Saturday, senior police officials inspected the site and reinforced security measures. A Special Reserve Police Force (SRP) unit has been deployed alongside local police, which was already stationed at the location. Additionally, two senior inspector-level officers have been assigned for 24-hour monitoring of the tomb.
To further tighten security, blockades have been set up at two points on the road leading to the site, and two fixed security checkpoints have been established. Every visitor is being thoroughly checked before being allowed entry. These measures aim to prevent any escalation of tensions and ensure law and order.
Controversy Over Aurangzeb’s Tomb Intensifies
The controversy surrounding Aurangzeb’s tomb has escalated in recent days. VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders have openly threatened to demolish the grave, stating they will launch a major agitation on March 17 if it is not removed.
The situation has been further aggravated by remarks from Samajwadi Party leader Abbu Azmi, who called Aurangzeb a “great hero”. His statement has drawn sharp criticism, leading to heated debates and protests.
Meanwhile, 14 people have been booked in Maharashtra for allegedly glorifying Aurangzeb by posting his pictures on social media. Among them, a Navi Mumbai resident is facing charges for using Aurangzeb’s image as his WhatsApp profile picture. Following complaints from VHP, Hindu Sakal Samaj Sangathan, Shiv Shambhu Pratishthan, and BJP, the Navi Mumbai Police registered an FIR under Section 298 (hurting religious sentiments) and Section 153-A (promoting enmity between groups) of the IPC.
Bajrang Dal’s Ultimatum and Growing Tensions
Bajrang Dal has issued a stern ultimatum demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s grave from Sambhajinagar. The organization has warned that if their demand is not met, they will take matters into their own hands.
With tensions running high, the police are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance to ensure peace in the region. Authorities are on high alert as March 17 approaches, closely monitoring the situation to prevent any law and order disruption.
