Crackdown on Drugs & Corruption Just a Trailer; AAP Govt to Restore ‘Rangla Punjab’: Kejriwal

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has launched an aggressive crackdown on drug abuse and corruption, with National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal declaring that the past 20 days were “just a trailer” of what is to come. Speaking at a Jan Sabha in Ludhiana alongside CM Bhagwant Mann and Ludhiana West candidate Sanjeev Arora, the AAP Chief pointed out that the BJP, Akali Dal, and Congress had been orchestrating the drug trade in Punjab, vowing that no leader involved would be spared.

As the AAP’s Punjab government intensifies its campaign to transform Punjab into “Rangla Punjab,” the AAP Supremo emphasized that the state’s looted wealth is now being redirected into free electricity, quality schools, and modern hospitals—challenging decades of political exploitation.

Addresing the people, AAP National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, stated, “India has been independent for 75 years, but has any Chief Minister ever come to meet you? Forget the Chief Minister—has any minister ever come to meet you? No one comes. This is the first time a Chief Minister has personally come among you to listen to your concerns.”

Highlighting that no past Punjab CM had the courage to face the people, the AAP Chief continued, “So many Chief Ministers have come and gone in Punjab. Have you ever seen a Chief Minister from Akali Dal, BJP, or Congress dare to give the microphone to the public and invite them to ask questions? No party had the courage to do this because they had looted Punjab. They had engaged in massive corruption. They had ruined the state. They were the ones who started the drug menace in Punjab—Akali Dal and Congress are responsible for this.”

The AAP Supremo emphasised that the other party’s ministers knew that if they ever gave the mic to the people, the public would hurl abuses at them. That is why they feared facing the people. They would come on stage, give a speech, shout ‘Bole So Nihal,’ and run away. He asserted, “For the first time in Punjab’s history, a Chief Minister has had the courage to give the mic to the public and say, ‘Ask me questions.’ This proves how honest our AAP government is.”

Arvind Kejriwal affirmed, “We have launched a war against drugs. Many people have told me that in just the last 20 days, it feels like a miracle is happening in Punjab. Many bold steps have been taken against corruption and drugs—strong, decisive actions. And this is just the beginning. This is only a trailer; the real picture is yet to unfold. You will soon witness even bigger actions. Massive steps will be taken to transform Punjab into ‘Rangla Punjab’ again.”

“Earlier, the drug trade was run by these political parties. Their top leaders were involved in it. But now, they will not be spared. In the coming days, watch how action is taken against the big players of the drug trade. No one will be spared,” the AAP Chief declared.

Arvind Kejriwal asserted that the difference is clear. “Earlier, their ministers, MLAs, and Chief Ministers were running the drug trade. Our ministers, MLAs, and Chief Minister are not involved in this. That is why we have the courage to take bulldozers to the houses of drug traffickers. They are being arrested, strict action is being taken against them.”

He asserted that we have instructed the police—any officer found working hand-in-hand with drug traffickers will not be spared. It was always said that some in the police force helped traffickers—now let’s see who has the courage to continue this. If anyone dares to work with the drug mafia now, they will face severe consequences.

The AAP National Convenor lashed out at the drug menace in Punjab, vowing to rid the state of this poison. He said, “Our entire generation is being destroyed. We will not let this happen. All these drugs come from Pakistan. Drones fly over the border and drop packets, and from there, drug smugglers pick them up and flood Punjab with this poison. But ever since we launched a strict crackdown, Pakistan is in turmoil. Now, their drones come and drop drugs, but they can’t find anyone to pick them up. No one is left to sell their poison.”

Asking for support from the people of Punjab, he stated, “Until three crore Punjabis unite and raise their voices against drugs, this war cannot be won. The government alone cannot do this. If someone comes to sell drugs in your area—report them to the police. Action will be taken. Not a single drug peddler will be spared.”

Calling out the previous governments for their failure to control crime, he said, “We are cracking down on gangsters too. Under Congress, Akali Dal, and BJP, gangsters flourished like never before. Punjab was overrun with them. But now, not a single gangster will be spared.”

The AAP Supremo shared that a man once told him that Punjab’s law and order has collapsed. He agreed and said, “These people destroyed Punjab over 70 years. Three years is not a long time but we have picked up ‘jhadu’ (broom), and we are sweeping away 70 years of filth. Now, our government is running at full speed—100 km per hour, we will wipe out drugs. We will fix law and order.”

Shifting focus to the AAP government’s achievements, theAAP Chief asserted, “Did you ever think, even in your dreams, that a day would come when electricity would be free? But today, only two states in the entire country—Delhi and Punjab—have free electricity.”

He continued, “These people used to say the treasury is empty. But we have never said that. We have money, and we are using it for you. We are building schools, like the ‘Schools of Eminence’ the children demanded. Mohalla clinics and hospitals are being built across Punjab.”

Assuring the people of Ludhiana of further development, he said, “In Jawahar Camp, all roads will be rebuilt in the next one and a half months. Streetlights will be installed everywhere. Earlier, Punjab had power shortages, but now, there is no shortage of electricity. But we found out that many transformers in Ludhiana are faulty, causing power cuts. Before this summer, we will install so many transformers that this time, not even a single minute of power will be cut in Ludhiana.”

Slamming previous governments for corruption, he said, “Where is this money coming from? This is honest money. Earlier, the Akali Dal and Congress leaders looted Punjab. But today, that loot has stopped.”

Asking for support for candidate Sanjeev Arora, Arvind Kejriwal also shared a heartfelt story of a young child battling a rare disease (SMA), highlighting the compassion and dedication of the AAP candidate. He said, “A six-month-old baby was diagnosed with a rare disease called SMA type 1. His muscles were deteriorating—he couldn’t stand, he couldn’t eat. There was only one treatment: an injection costing ₹18 crore. The injection had to be imported from a foreign country. What would any parent do in such a situation? They would just pray to God, with no hope of arranging such an amount.”

“Sanjeev Arora read about this in the newspaper. He traveled from Punjab to Delhi, met the child’s family and doctors, and immediately donated ₹2 crore from his own pocket. Then, he mobilized support from across the country—actors, industrialists, everyone. He raised ₹18 crore and brought that injection. That child’s life was saved. Who does such things? Only those who truly feel the pain of the poor, the sick, the helpless.”

Arvind Kejriwal urged voters to recognize such dedication, saying, “And mind you—Sanjeev Arora isn’t even your MLA yet. He hasn’t even won the election. But he is already working for you—getting your roads repaired, installing your streetlights. Imagine what he will do once he wins. You can’t even begin to think of the transformation he will bring.”

Taking a jibe at past neglect, Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the state of Ludhiana’s Civil Hospital, “This hospital was in ruins—rats running around, garbage piled up. But Sanjeev Arora—he didn’t wait for the government. He gathered donations and transformed that hospital. And tomorrow, we are inaugurating it. Not with government money, but through public support.”

He made an appeal to the people of Ludhiana, linking governance to real development, “Now elections are coming. The AAP government is already in power. If you elect an AAP MLA, all officials—municipal commissioners, police commissioners, DCs—will be at your service. Your smallest problem will be solved. But if you vote for Congress, BJP, or Akali Dal, their MLAs will be useless because the government is ours. They won’t get any work done—they will just sit in the Assembly and hurl abuses at Bhagwant Mann. So, if you want progress, vote for Sanjeev Arora. But if you just want to hear abuses, then go ahead, vote for Congress, BJP, or Akali Dal.”

Only AAP gives people the chance to speak freely: Bhagwant Mann

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that AAP is the only party in the country that goes among the people and gives them the opportunity to speak openly. He said, “People ask us questions directly, and we answer every single one of them. Before us, every Chief Minister would just give long speeches, praise themselves, and leave. They never let the public speak. In Punjab, these parties ruled for five years each, but Arvind Kejriwal has given the people an alternative—AAP.”

Highlighting AAP’s clean governance, he said, “It has been three years since AAP formed the government in Punjab, and till today, not a single rupee’s worth of corruption has been alleged against us. These people are jealous of us because ordinary people like us are sitting on these powerful chairs. Arvind Kejriwal gives common people’s children the opportunity to become chairpersons, ministers, MLAs, and even Chief Ministers. My father was a teacher—I never imagined I could become CM. But Arvind Kejriwal made it possible! What greater gift could there be?”

BJP wins elections through fraud, but truth will triumph one day and their lies won’t work: Bhagwant Mann

The Punjab CM stated, “Arvind Kejriwal is the only leader in the country who, during the 2020 Delhi elections, said: ‘If I have worked for you, vote for me.’ That takes courage. But BJP wins elections through fraud—sometimes by deleting votes, sometimes by illegally adding them. Just because the night is long doesn’t mean the sun is dead. One day, the sun of truth will rise across the country. How long will their fake promises last? How long will their politics of horse trading continue?”

He also spoke about AAP’s commitment to education, saying, “We are sending government school teachers for training in Finland and Singapore. But under other parties, teachers never got any respect. The jhadu (broom) has always been used for cleaning houses and shops, but now, under Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, it will clean the filth of the entire country.”
