From Shepherd to Successful Dairy Entrepreneur: The Inspiring Journey of Vishwanath Yadav
Raipur : Dreams come true for those who have the courage to chase them. This saying perfectly fits Vishwanath Yadav from Badra (Tha) village, who once worked as a humble shepherd but has now established himself as a successful dairy entrepreneur.
In 2016-17, Yadav owned just 1.5 acres of land, including his ancestral home. He followed traditional methods, rearing one or two indigenous cows and selling 3-4 liters of milk daily, struggling to support his family. However, the State-Sponsored Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme became a turning point in his life.
According to Dr. R.M. Tripathi, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Yadav secured a ₹12 lakh loan under the scheme and laid the foundation for his dairy business. He seized this opportunity by expanding beyond cows and introducing buffaloes, significantly boosting milk production.
Today, Vishwanath Yadav owns 26 cows and 50 buffaloes, producing 150 liters of milk daily. He sells buffalo milk at ₹60 per liter, generating substantial profits. Additionally, he earns by raising and selling buffalo calves, recently selling one for ₹1.6 lakh, showcasing the success of his business.
With hard work and smart strategies, Yadav repaid his bank loan on time and is now expanding his dairy debt-free. His income from dairy farming enabled him to purchase 4.5 more acres of land, build a dairy shed and a concrete house, buy a tractor for farming, and acquire a motorcycle for milk transportation. Today, he is not just a prosperous farmer but also a leading dairy entrepreneur in the region.
Inspired by Yadav’s success, many young individuals in the area are now venturing into the dairy business. His journey is a testament to the fact that with proper guidance, dedication, and determination, anyone can change their destiny.
