“NCP Minister Calls for Caste Census Amid Maharashtra Protests”

Mumbai, (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid the ongoing protests over Maratha and OBC quotas in Maharashtra, NCP minister and Samata Parishad Founder Chhagan Bhujbal made a strong case for conducting a caste census across India on Monday, stating that he will urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to support the initiative.

“If this census is conducted, it will greatly benefit the OBCs of the country as they will receive substantial funds from the Centre,” he told reporters after chairing the Samata Parishad meeting here.

“Narendra Modi has become the Prime Minister of the country for the third time. Now we are going to appeal to him to conduct a caste census. If conducted, it will illuminate various issues faced by OBCs. We will not only understand their population but also their socio-economic situation,” said Bhujbal.

He emphasized that these funds would become available to OBCs, which currently are accessible only to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Bhujbal’s call for a caste census follows a recent demand by NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar last week. Interestingly, the Congress, NCP, and NCP(SP) have strongly advocated for a caste census, while the BJP’s stance on this issue remains unclear.
