Mizoram Chief Secretary Visits Siaha, Holds Meeting with Heads of Offices

Siaha – Today at 12:00 PM, Mr. Khilli Ram Meena, IAS, Chief Secretary of Mizoram, chaired a meeting with Heads of Offices in Siaha District at the Forest Conference Hall, MADC. The meeting was presided over by Mr. VL Hruaizela Khiangte, Deputy Commissioner of Siaha.

During the session, Deputy Commissioner Khiangte expressed his gratitude, stating that it was an honor for Chief Secretary Meena to visit Siaha District.

The Heads of Offices in Siaha provided updates on their respective departments, highlighting their ongoing work, challenges, and initiatives. In response, the Chief Secretary acknowledged their efforts and encouraged further progress.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Meena emphasized the need for infrastructure development and expressed concerns regarding poor connectivity. He urged authorities to prioritize road construction and maintenance to facilitate growth. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of education, particularly primary education, as a key factor in the district’s development.

The Chief Secretary also commended Siaha for having a lower drug abuse rate compared to other parts of Mizoram. However, he stressed the importance of continued vigilance and called on the Excise & Narcotics Department, Assam Rifles, and the Police to strengthen enforcement measures in border areas.

Discussing economic opportunities, he advocated for enhancing rice and other crop production, stating that oil palm cultivation could be a viable option. He urged various departments to work collaboratively for the district’s overall progress and instructed local authorities to provide necessary support.

During the meeting, Superintendent of Police, Siaha, Mr. Manny Bhushan Singh, IPS, gave a PowerPoint presentation on law enforcement measures and policing in the district. Additionally, Mr. Thomas Maratha Hlychho, SDC, Siaha, provided an overview of the district’s road infrastructure and connectivity through a PowerPoint presentation.

The meeting saw active participation from department heads, MADC officials, and other key stakeholders. Concluding the session, Deputy Commissioner Khiangte extended a formal vote of thanks.

Following the meeting, Chief Secretary Meena also held discussions with Mr. M. Laikaw, Chief Executive Member, MADC, on matters of administrative importance.
