Metro Railways enhances seamless travelling with DALIAN RAKES.

Metro Railway has introduced two more Dalian rakes MR – 504 & MR – 512 for the broader interest of the passengers. With this, five (05) Dalian rakes are now plying on the Metro network. Before induction to commercial services both the rakes were subjected to inspection by EIG (Electrical Inspector to Government) on 27.03.2025 for verification for Electrical safety as per provision of CEA Regulation 2010 (Measures Related to Electrical Safety & Power Supply).

The new rakes MR – 504 & MR – 512 started their maiden runs on 28/03/2025 from Noapara station at 11.58 hours & 12.35 hours respectively and had reached Kavi Subhash Metro station at 12.56 hours & 13.39 hours respectively. Again, they had started their return journeys from Kavi Subhash at 13.01 hours & 13.41 hours respectively and they reached Dakshineswar station at 14.05 hours and 14.45 hours respectively. These rakes are packed with special features to increase comfort and joy of ride for the commuters within Metro Railway network. These types of rakes have 100 mm wider door in comparison to the existing AC rakes. Moreover, greater seating capacity, better air conditioning, noise reduction feature and eye-soothing illumination are the added superlative features.

The salient features of the Dalian rakes are as follows: –

Passenger amenities features: Wider doors in these rakes will facilitate easy Entry and Exit of passengers specially during the peak hours. Enhanced features of these rakes will also provide jerk-free ride. CCTV coverage inside the coach, modular and wider vestibules, enhanced seating capacity including provision of more seats for senior citizens and specially- abled are some of the unique features of these rakes. Apart from these, features like aesthetically designed interior, improved air diffuser, high capacity ACs, small and sleek alarm device with outside indication lamp, brighter multicolour multilingual display board, uniform illumination, wheel chair parking facility and door side hand rails have made these rakes unique in Kolkata Metro.

Technical features: of these rakes include through rainwater channels, paint-free stainless steel car body, improved door channel with side stopper and improved energy consumption which will be more environment- friendly.

Safety features: These rakes also have some enhanced safety features like disc brake system, controlled discharge fire extinguishers with strap, wider evacuation door and evacuation ramp with anti-skid rubber flooring. Such features will definitely increase and ensure commuters safety which Metro authorities always look for.

It is noteworthy that the existing fleet of Metro Railway’s fully air-conditioned coaches, comprises of 31 rakes in Blue Line, 3 rakes in Orange Line, 2 rakes in Purple Line, alongwith 14 rakes in Green Line Section.
