Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin Grants ₹15 Lakh for Six Athletes Participating in Gymnasiade 2025 in Serbia
Chennai – Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced financial assistance of ₹15 lakh to six selected athletes from Tamil Nadu who will be participating in the Gymnasiade 2025 international sports competition in Belgrade, Serbia.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has been committed to supporting talented athletes from Tamil Nadu to participate in international sporting events. In 2023, the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation was established to provide financial aid to athletes.
₹56 Crore Disbursed to Athletes in One Year
Over the past year, based on merit and selection criteria, ₹56 crore has been granted to 16,056 athletes through this initiative. Many beneficiaries have competed in over 100 international sporting events, bringing glory to Tamil Nadu and India.
Gymnasiade 2025 Participation
The Gymnasiade 2025, organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, from April 4 to April 14, 2025. Six athletes from Tamil Nadu have been selected to compete in Taekwondo and Dance Sport categories.
During an event at the Secretariat today (April 2, 2025), Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced financial assistance covering:
- Airfare
- Accommodation expenses
- Competition participation fees
- Visa fees
- Insurance
- Food expenses
Each athlete will receive ₹2.50 lakh, totaling ₹15 lakh, from the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation. The Minister also congratulated and wished the athletes success in their competitions.
