Develop Buddhist circuit in the state: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government has prioritized the development of religious and spiritual tourism. He emphasized the need to develop locations in the state influenced by Lord Buddha as part of the Buddhist circuit, including sites like Satdhara, Sonari and areas around Sanchi, as well as Ujjain. He also underscored the importance of implementing the various provisions of the New Education Policy-2020 in universities as a matter of priority.

The sixth meeting of the working council of Sanchi Buddhist Indian Knowledge Studies University Sanchi was held on Thursday at Samatva Bhawan (Chief Minister’s residence) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Minister of State for Culture (Independent Charge) Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi and Chancellor of the University Acharya Prof. Yajneshwar S. Shastri participated virtually in the meeting. Along with the Kulguru of the University Prof. Vaidyanath Labh, members of the General Council Prof. Satya Prakash Sharma, Padma Shri Shri Kapil Tiwari, Shri Abhay Katyayan and Prof. Ishwar Sharan Vishwakarma were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that appropriate action will be taken on the suggestions put forth by the council members. He emphasized the importance of initiating research on Mahakatyayana, one of the principal disciples of Lord Buddha. Mahakatyayana is believed to have travelled from Ujjain to Mathura, spreading the teachings of Buddhism. Renowned for his logical reasoning and debating skills, his journey to enlightenment under the Bodhi tree serves as an inspiring narrative that highlights the virtues of patience, wisdom, and self-discipline.

Buddhist Society’s silver jubilee conference will be held in November

It was informed during the meeting that the Silver Jubilee Conference of the Indian Society for Buddhist Studies is scheduled to be held in Bhopal in the upcoming month of November. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav instructed officials to initiate the necessary preparations for the event. The Vice Chancellor of the University provided an update on the ongoing academic activities. He informed that the construction of the boys’ and girls’ hostels has been completed, while the academic building, administrative building, and library are also nearing completion.
