No Cracks on Main Body of Atal Setu Bridge
MMRDA Clarification.
Mumbai : The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shivdi-Nhawasheva Atal Setu Bridge has no cracks on its main body. Minor cracks have been found on the approach road connecting to Atal Setu, which is a service road and not part of the main bridge. These cracks are not due to structural defects in the project. Therefore, there is no danger to the bridge’s structure, as explained by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
During an inspection on 20 June 2024 by the Operation and Maintenance Team, minor cracks were observed at three locations on Ramp No. 5 asphalt from Ulwe towards Mumbai. These cracks need prompt fixing. M/s Strabag, the contractor for package 4 of the Atal Setu project, has begun repair work in the affected area. MMRDA has informed that the work will be completed within 24 hours without any disruption to bridge traffic.
