Ayushman Bharat Yojana started in Delhi, Delhiites will get free treatment up to Rs 10 lakhs

An important agreement was signed to implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi on Saturday. Under this scheme, Delhiites will now get free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on this occasion that due to the previous government, this scheme could not be implemented on time, due to which lakhs of people could not get the benefit.

Chief Minister Gupta said that in the first phase, 2.35 lakh families will be given beneficiary cards, which will start from April 10. This scheme has been implemented under the Central Government’s Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). He said, “If this scheme had been implemented earlier, it could have become a lifeline for Delhi, but due to the stubbornness of the previous government, it was stopped. The situation in the hospitals was bad and two patients were admitted on one bed.”

The Chief Minister of Delhi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government and said that this scheme was an election promise of the BJP government, which is now being fulfilled. The target of the Delhi government is to include one lakh people in this scheme in the first month. The Chief Minister said that now the people of Delhi will be able to get treatment in any hospital of their choice and they will not be denied treatment in private hospitals.

This scheme will cover a total of 1,961 diseases and its benefits can be availed in 30,957 hospitals across the country. Chief Minister Gupta said that under the scheme of the Central Government, 6.54 lakh families of Delhi will get treatment worth Rs 5 lakh and by adding an additional Rs 5 lakh from the Delhi Government, the total insurance amount will become Rs 10 lakh.

On this occasion, an online portal was also launched, where Delhiites can apply with ration card and Aadhaar card. Apart from this, about five lakh elderly people above 70 years of age will be given the facility of registration at home. Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma called this scheme a big relief for the poor of Delhi and said, “Now lakhs of people will get free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. This is a very big and positive initiative”.
