IPL 2025: RCB Clinch Thrilling 12-Run Victory Over Mumbai Indians

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a pulsating 12-run win against Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 20 of IPL 2025 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on April 7. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, RCB made full use of the batting-friendly conditions to post an imposing total of 221/5.

RCB’s innings was anchored by Virat Kohli, who crafted a classy 67 off 42 balls. Skipper Rajat Patidar, named Player of the Match, struck a blistering 64 off just 32 deliveries, combining style and aggression. Jitesh Sharma provided the final flourish with a rapid 40 off 21 balls, pushing RCB past the 220-run mark. MI bowlers struggled for control, with Krunal Pandya proving expensive and the death overs going for plenty.

Chasing 222, MI had a mixed start. Rohit Sharma flicked a six and two boundaries but was soon bowled by Yash Dayal. Hazlewood then trapped Ryan Rickelton, leaving MI reeling. However, Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks steadied the ship, taking MI to 54/2 at the end of the Powerplay. Just as momentum built, Jacks was surprised by a short ball from Krunal and fell for 22. Soon after, SKY was dismissed for 28 by Dayal, tightening RCB’s grip on the game.

The match turned into a thriller when Hardik Pandya entered with a fierce intent. Teaming up with Tilak Varma, the duo unleashed an explosive counterattack. They thrashed Suyash Sharma and Hazlewood for 17 and 22 runs respectively, with Hardik smashing twin sixes off his brother Krunal. Tilak brought up a sensational 26-ball half-century, as the pair added 89 runs off just 39 balls, suddenly swinging the game in MI’s favour.

However, RCB held their nerve. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Tilak for 56 in a crucial 18th over, and Hazlewood removed the dangerous Hardik on the first ball of the 19th over for a whirlwind 42. With pressure mounting, Krunal delivered a brilliant final over, and a stunning catch by Phil Salt and Tim David ended MI’s hopes.

With this win, RCB not only gained valuable points but also showcased their depth and resilience under pressure. Mumbai’s valiant chase fell just short, leaving fans entertained in one of the most exciting matches of the season so far.
