Chief Minister Lays Foundation Stone for Development Projects Worth Rs 547 Crore in Bhandara District.


Bhandara, June 24: The state government, committed to serving the common people and farmers, has announced various development projects for Bhandara district worth Rs 547 crore. Among these projects, Rs 102 crore will be dedicated to starting water tourism, which is expected to boost tourism and create significant employment opportunities, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

In addition to the water tourism project on the Wainganga River, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for several other development works. During his address, he announced a public holiday on April 3 to commemorate Baba Jumdev’s birth anniversary and to approve the water tourism plan for the Wainganga Reservoir.

The ceremony was attended by MLA Narendra Bhondekar, Inspector General of Police Chering Dorje, District Collector Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Sameer Kurtakoti, and Superintendent of Police Lohit Matani.

Key projects include the First Phase of the Water Tourism Centre, an Underground Sewerage Scheme, and the Beautification of Lakes in Bhandara and Pavani under the Amrut Yojana. Additionally, road construction under the Urban Upliftment Mission, special schemes under the Bhandara and Pavani Municipal Councils, various development works under the District Planning Committee, and the District Sports Complex in Bhandara were also inaugurated.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these development works would make Bhandara district a prime tourist destination. MLA Bhondekar requested an increase in the current allocation for water tourism from Rs 102 crore to Rs 200 crore, which the Chief Minister agreed to consider.

MLA Bhondekar emphasized that the Rs 547 crore investment would not only promote tourism development in Bhandara district but also generate employment. Collector Kumbhejkar highlighted that the water tourism project, in particular, would create local jobs and elevate Bhandara district as a leading tourist destination in India.
