IPL 2025: Mumbai Posts 205 Against Unbeaten Delhi
In what could be a turning point in their struggling IPL 2025 campaign, Mumbai Indians put up a formidable total of 205/5 against the in-form Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Despite being among the lowest-ranked teams this season—with just one win from five matches and placed ninth on the points table—Mumbai showed signs of resurgence.
Opting to bat first after losing the toss, Mumbai got off to a promising start. Opener Ryan Rickelton played a brisk knock, scoring 41 off 25 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav added a fluent 40 off 28. The highlight of the innings, however, was Tilak Varma’s explosive 59 off 33 deliveries, which gave the innings much-needed momentum. Naman Dhir’s unbeaten 38 off just 17 balls provided a perfect finishing touch in the death overs.
Skipper Hardik Pandya and senior pro Rohit Sharma failed to make an impact, managing only 2 and 18 runs respectively.
Delhi’s bowling was led by Rasikh Dar Salam (aka Vipraj Nigam) and Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up two wickets each, while Mukesh Kumar chipped in with one.
As Delhi Capitals look to extend their unbeaten streak in the tournament, all eyes are on whether Mumbai’s 205 will prove to be a defendable total against a batting lineup in top form. The second innings promises to be a thrilling chase.
