Israeli Airstrikes Kill 45 Palestinians Across Gaza Amid Worsening Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza – At least 45 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured as Israeli airstrikes intensified across the Gaza Strip, according to Gaza’s Civil Defence. The deadly attacks occurred on Thursday and Friday, further escalating a conflict that has already claimed over 51,000 lives—mostly women and children—since it began in October 2023.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defence, reported multiple strikes in southern Gaza, particularly in Khan Younis and Rafah. A residential home belonging to the Baraka family in Khan Younis was hit, killing 10 people. Another airstrike targeted a local barbershop, killing six, including two children and a woman. Additional strikes in the same area reportedly killed eight more, while two people were killed in Rafah.

In northern Gaza, at least 13 people lost their lives when a strike leveled the Maqdad family’s home in the Tal al-Zaatar area. Six others were killed in attacks on displacement tents in Gaza City, and an Israeli airstrike in the al-Tuwwam area killed two more civilians and injured six others. A young man was also killed in Jabalia during an attack on a group of civilians.

The Civil Defence warned that its emergency response efforts may soon cease due to severe fuel shortages, blaming Israel’s continued blockade of humanitarian aid and fuel into the territory.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed ongoing military operations across Gaza, stating that with intelligence support, they have been targeting militant infrastructure, eliminating fighters, and destroying weapons facilities. According to the IDF, nearly 40 “terror targets” were struck in recent operations.

Heavy bombardment continued on Friday, particularly in eastern Gaza City’s Shujaiya and Zeitoun neighborhoods, where residential buildings were reduced to rubble. Eyewitnesses and Palestinian medical sources described scenes of widespread destruction and panic.

Thursday alone saw 45 Palestinians killed in coordinated air, drone, and artillery strikes across various parts of the Gaza Strip, according to reports from medical teams and civil defence officials on the ground.

With humanitarian conditions deteriorating rapidly and civilian casualties mounting, international concern continues to grow over the scale of the conflict and the suffering endured by the Palestinian population.
