Chhattisgarh Opens New Doors for Investment in Textile Industry – Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai
Says Chhattisgarh’s New Textile Policy is the Best in the Country
Raipur : Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai, participated in the CMAI Fab Show 2025 held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, emphasizing the state’s investment potential in the textile and apparel sector. During this event, the Chief Minister engaged with investors and industrialists associated with the textile sector, inviting them to invest in Chhattisgarh. He mentioned that the state has opened new doors for investment in the textile industry. On this occasion, the Chhattisgarh government also signed an MoU with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI). This marks a significant step towards Chhattisgarh becoming an emerging hub for textiles, garments, and handloom industries.
Addressing the industrialists, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai highlighted that the state government recently approved the establishment of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in New Raipur with an investment of 271 crore rupees. This institute will provide a significant boost to the textile industry in Chhattisgarh. He further mentioned that Champa’s kosa sarees, known for their exceptional craftsmanship, will receive great support in terms of branding and promotion through the MoU with CMAI and the establishment of NIFT.
Mr. Sai emphasized that the textile industry is directly connected to rural self-employment, technology, and skill development. The state’s new industrial policy aims to promote MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in the textile sector while ensuring the availability of these facilities. The government is providing special grants to enterprises that employ over 1,000 local individuals. The government is also offering a 252 crore rupees reimbursement for an investment of 100 crore rupees. He stated that no other state in the country offers such a comprehensive policy for the textile sector. This policy benefits small and medium-sized enterprises in the textile industry. Additionally, special incentives have been provided for setting up enterprises in regions like Bastar and Surguja.
He mentioned that the state’s single-window system, ease of doing business, and speed of doing business policies are facilitating the rapid approval of investment proposals. With over 350 reforms implemented, the investment environment has been made exceptionally smooth.
During the event, the Chief Minister also visited the Chhattisgarh stall to gather information. He shared that efforts are underway to link the state’s traditional handicrafts with the textile industry.
The event was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Subodh Singh, Secretary Mr. Rahul Bhagat, Secretary of the Industry Department Mr. Rajat Kumar, Director Mr. Prabhat Malik, Managing Director of CSIDC Mr. Abhishek Agrawal, and several senior officials.
Central India’s Location, Excellent Connectivity
The Chief Minister also highlighted that Chhattisgarh’s location in Central India provides the best connectivity across the country. The Raipur Airport began cargo services earlier this year. The state is currently working on several crucial railway projects worth 48,000 crore rupees. The expansion of the railway network will greatly benefit the industrial sector. The Raipur to Vishakhapatnam Expressway is under rapid construction, which will provide direct connectivity to ports like Vishakhapatnam, further boosting business in Raipur.
Trained Youth for the Textile Industry
The Chief Minister also emphasized that the textile industry requires skilled manpower. The state’s ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) are offering advanced courses based on technology and innovation, training youth specifically for the textile industry. With institutions like IIT, IIM, IIIT, and National Law University available in the state, there is an abundance of skilled human resources ready to serve the industry.
