Elon Musk Resigns from U.S. Government Efficiency Department

Washington – Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced his resignation from the position of Chairman of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In a statement posted on X, Musk said his term as a special government employee had ended and thanked President Donald Trump for the opportunity to serve.

The DOGE department was established during President Trump’s second term to cut wasteful federal spending and streamline government operations. Musk, known for his intense work ethic, was appointed to lead the department’s reform efforts. He stated, “The DOGE mission will grow stronger over time as it becomes a way of life across the government.”

Despite DOGE’s goals, Musk recently criticized the administration’s new spending bill, calling it a setback to efficiency efforts. “I’m disappointed to see a bill that increases the deficit and undermines DOGE’s progress,” Musk said.

His resignation comes as he returns to focus on his struggling businesses. Tesla faces declining sales and poor reception of its Cybertruck. SpaceX’s latest Starship launch ended in failure, and social media platform X is grappling with technical issues and misinformation concerns. Investors, however, are hopeful that Musk’s renewed focus will help stabilize his companies. Tesla’s stock has risen 25% in the past month.

Musk’s departure doesn’t mark the end of DOGE. The department will continue its operations within federal agencies, aiming to maintain its mission of cutting waste and improving government efficiency.
