Review Meeting of Transport and Road Safety Department: Rajasthan Roadways to Witness Major Transformation — CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur – Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the Rajasthan government’s commitment to making the state’s transport system more robust, safe, and commuter-friendly. He stated that keeping future requirements in mind, the government is setting clear goals and implementing action plans on the ground. He added that Rajasthan Roadways buses should offer such comfort and convenience that even private vehicle owners are motivated to travel by bus.

Addressing a review meeting of the Transport and Road Safety Department and the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) at his residence on Friday, CM Sharma directed the organization of training seminars for drivers, conductors, and other staff. These seminars will focus on modernization of bus services, orderly transportation, cleanliness, and adherence to regulations. He also instructed that all bus stands and rest areas should be equipped with modern facilities and developed with a uniform appearance.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to expand facilities in road transport with a forward-looking approach. He proposed innovative services such as providing meals and “Saras” products on buses, along with ensuring safe travel. He directed the establishment of dedicated and punctual bus routes for prominent religious destinations. Installation of cameras and GPS in buses and the standardization of color for public transport buses were also mandated. Moreover, he instructed that quality checks on the body of new buses must be mandatory before registration.

Strict Action and Monitoring Ordered

CM Sharma called for stringent action and tight monitoring against misuse of authority, overloading, and overspeeding by vehicle operators. Officials informed him that a Command and Control Room for the Transport Vehicle Location Tracking and Emergency Alert System would be launched soon. Additionally, bus route digitization using the state’s Rajdhara app from the Department of Information Technology and Communication will also be undertaken shortly.

Sharma emphasized that route mapping should be done before issuing new permits, with special attention to hospitals, educational institutions, and government offices. He ordered timely procurement and deployment of new buses, speedy implementation of the Rajasthan Vehicle Scrappage Policy, and the establishment of automatic testing stations. He suggested that studies of transport models from other states and expert consultations should guide reforms.

Highlighting road safety as a collective responsibility, CM Sharma urged everyone to follow transport rules to reduce accidents. He also underlined the importance of electric vehicles in promoting environmental conservation, clean energy, and enhancing the convenience of public transport. Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa and senior departmental officials were present during the meeting.
