Yogi govt to organize International Yoga Day Programs across all government hospitals in UP

Lucknow : In a bid to promote holistic health and well-being, the Yogi government will organize International Yoga Day programs across all government hospitals on June 21. Acting on Chief Minister Yogi’s directive, the Health Department has instructed all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and Chief Medical Superintendents (CMSs) to begin preparations and awareness campaigns without delay.

Principal Secretary, Medical Health and Family Welfare, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma said that as per the wishes of CM Yogi, a letter has been issued to all CMOs and CMSs and instructions have been given to ensure the organization of Yoga Day in all the district hospitals, community health centers, primary health centers and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs of the state. A roadmap for organizing these events is being prepared in advance to ensure maximum participation.

The Principal Secretary informed that this year’s theme will be “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”. He said that the main aim of Yoga Day is to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for improving overall health and lifestyle. In Uttar Pradesh, regular yoga sessions are already being held at all Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to support people’s physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. On June 21, special yoga events will be organized at all these locations as part of this ongoing effort.

He further mentioned that in order to help more people take part in International Yoga Day, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs will provide general yoga protocol skills to interested participants at the local level. The Ministry of AYUSH, along with the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, will also offer online training for yoga instructors.

The Prinicpal Secretary said that coordination should be established with the block/district administration while ensuring active participation of ASHA/ANM, voluntary organizations, educational institutions at the community level and the message should be disseminated to the public through physical and digital means.
