Metro authorities strives relentlessly in ensuring safety and security of its commuters. Metro personnel stationed at Central Control as well as stations also monitor movement of passengers at the station area as well as on the platforms through CCTV surveillance system. During such vigilance it has been observed that commuters tend to lean from the platforms – breaching the safety benchmarking protocols. Commuters are regularly requested through Public Address System of the station not to cross the yellow line at the edge of the platform before arrival of the train. But it has been found that a section of the commuters unnecessarily crossing the yellow line when there is no train at the station in spite of repeated requests.

In order to curb this tendency, Metro Railway authorities have now decided to launch a special drive against the erring commuters. Unnecessarily crossing the yellow line will be considered as a nuisance activity in the Metro station premises and will attract a penalty of Rs. 250/- from 01.06.2025 (Sunday).

Initiatives have been taken to make Metro commuters aware about this through announcements, displaying posters at the stations as well as counselling them requesting to refrain from such activity.
