Chief Minister Meets Union Minister Of State For Road Transport & Highways

Aizawl : Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma welcomed Hon. Ajay Tamta, Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, to Mizoram. They reviewed arrangements for the four‐laning of the Silchar–Aizawl highway, focusing especially on the sections between Kawnpui and Sairang.

The Chief Minister said that this highway link is critically important for India’s northeast region. Since the work on the Kawnpui–Sairang stretch was never fully completed, our people have faced severe travel delays for many years. Now—after prolonged efforts—construction will finally resume. We are eager to see this project finished swiftly, because once it is, Mizoram’s connectivity to the rest of India will be transformed.

The Chief Minister added that for our state’s national highways to be even stronger and of higher quality, selecting them as “Strategic Highways” and surfacing them with concrete would be ideal. Concrete roads, while requiring more in initial work, will need far less maintenance in the long run, reducing upkeep costs. He also mentioned that planning is underway to establish a heliport.

Responding, Hon. Ajay Tamta applauded the Chief Minister’s remarks, calling them well founded. He expressed appreciation for the steady progress being made, and said he is confident that these improvements will greatly benefit Mizoram.
