Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Yojana a Boon for Rajinikanth
Rooftop Solar Systems in Chhattisgarh Empower Consumers, Provide Huge Relief from Electricity Bills
Raipur : Under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Chhattisgarh is effectively implementing the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. This initiative allows ordinary citizens across the state to install solar panels on their rooftops and generate their own electricity. Not only does this benefit the environment, but it also delivers significant economic savings to consumers. Homes equipped with rooftop solar systems are now seeing their electricity bills drop to zero, making consumers self-reliant for their power needs.
Subsidy from the Government
One beneficiary of this scheme is Mr. Rajinikanth Rathore, a resident of Champa town in the Janjgir-Champa district. He installed a 3 kW rooftop solar system at a total cost of ₹180,000. Of this, he received a government subsidy of ₹78,000. Mr. Rathore shared that his electricity bills were previously quite high, but they have now been completely eliminated. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai for providing this financially relieving and environmentally friendly scheme to the public.
Under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Scheme, eligible consumers in the state receive up to ₹78,000 in subsidy directly credited to their bank accounts. The subsidy structure is as follows:
- For households consuming 0–105 units per month, a 1–2 kW solar plant is eligible for a ₹30,000–₹60,000 grant.
- For households consuming 150–300 units per month, a 2–3 kW solar plant is eligible for a ₹60,000–₹78,000 grant.
- For households with average monthly consumption above 300 units, a rooftop solar plant over 3 kW capacity is eligible for up to ₹78,000 in subsidy.
This scheme has not only promoted energy self-reliance in Chhattisgarh but has also paved the way for economically empowering millions of households. Like Mr. Rajinikanth, many families in the state have now achieved complete relief from their electricity bills.
