National Archery Academy to be Established in Nawa Raipur

A Major Step to Provide Global Platforms for Budding Sports Talent

Raipur : In a landmark decision aimed at promoting sports among youth, the Chhattisgarh government has approved the establishment of a National Archery Academy in Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar. The proposal was passed during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on June 4 at Mahanadi Bhavan, Nawa Raipur. This world-class academy will provide state-of-the-art training facilities and residential accommodation for athletes, making it one of the finest sports institutions in the country.

To set up the academy, the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare will be allotted 13.47 acres of land free of cost in Sector-03, Village Parsada, Nawa Raipur. The state government will bear the premium, ground rent, and GST, amounting to ₹39.22 crore, which will be reimbursed to the Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority.

Calling it a historic move, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said, “This is more than just the construction of a building. It is a golden opportunity for the youth of Chhattisgarh. We have no shortage of talent; what we need is to provide the right training and opportunities. The National Archery Academy will offer international-level coaching and infrastructure, helping our players make their mark on the global stage.” He added that the academy would not only establish Chhattisgarh’s identity in the sports arena but also produce athletes who will bring pride to the nation.

The academy will be developed with the support of NTPC Limited and will include world-class amenities such as outdoor archery ranges, an air-conditioned indoor range, a high-performance training center, hostels for players, and residential quarters for directors and staff. The lease agreement must be executed and registered within three months of land allotment, with construction beginning within one year and completed within three years.

The responsibility for implementing the project has been assigned to the Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority, and the necessary budgetary provisions will be ensured by the state government. For the first time in Chhattisgarh, such an extensive infrastructure is being built for a sport like archery—both traditional and technical—offering a platform for tribal youth with innate archery skills. This initiative is set to redefine Chhattisgarh’s identity in the field of sports.
