CM Rekha Gupta Slams AAP Over Education Scams and Collapsing School Infrastructure

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing the previous Kejriwal-led government of widespread irregularities in the education sector. Speaking to the media after inspecting a government school in Haiderpur village, North Delhi, CM Gupta said that the AAP’s “artificial education model” has now been exposed through the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) report.

Gupta alleged that the AAP indulged in “wrongdoings” during its tenure, and that legal action is inevitable as their scams have come to light. “The law will take its course, and once action is initiated based on the CAG reports, proceedings will begin against those responsible,” she asserted.

Pointing to the deteriorating condition of a school building constructed in 2018 under the AAP regime, the Chief Minister said, “The building collapsed in just two years. This is the result of the fake education system they created. It was not built to last; it was built for show.”

She criticised the former government’s much-publicised education reforms, calling them hollow and ineffective, especially in underserved areas like Haiderpur. “This is a densely populated village, but even today, it does not have a single English-medium school or a school that offers science as a subject. Where are students supposed to go if they want to study science?” she asked.

CM Gupta held both the former government and the area’s former legislator responsible for this glaring failure. “Their so-called education model had no direction. This is evident from the lack of basic educational infrastructure in this village,” she said.

In addition to infrastructure concerns, the Chief Minister highlighted the absence of sports facilities and playgrounds in government schools. “There are zero sports facilities. From security to sanitation, the condition of our government schools is pathetic,” she noted, adding that there is also a severe shortage of teaching staff, including school principals.

To address these gaps, CM Gupta said the current BJP-led administration has begun initiatives to fill vacancies, improve security, and enhance sanitation facilities in schools. “We are planning to develop 75 CM Shree schools across the capital, which will provide education facilities better than most private schools,” she said.

Gupta also criticised AAP’s decision to create a separate education board for Delhi schools. According to her, this move has hurt students’ prospects of gaining admission to educational institutions outside the city. “The separate board has made it difficult for Delhi students to compete nationally. This mistake will be corrected,” she affirmed.

In conclusion, CM Gupta emphasized the state government’s commitment to rebuilding trust in public education by ensuring quality construction, necessary academic streams, staff recruitment, and overall improvement of learning conditions. “Our goal is not just to fix what was broken, but to provide Delhi’s children with the best educational environment possible,” she said.
